We’ve got two new movie adaptations coming out soon. First up is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society staring Downton Abbey‘s Lilly James. The story takes place on the channel island of Guernsey during WWII. The film also stars Jame’s fellow Downton cast mates Penelope Wilton and Matthew Goode and Game of Thrones Michiel Huisman. I read the book several years ago and thought it was a great addition to the plethera of WWII stories out there since it focused on the occupation of the channel islands, which is an aspect of the war that is not featured or talked about often. The movie premiers on Netflix in August.
Next up is another adaptation featuring Matthew Goode. Deborah Harkness’s All Souls trilogy is getting an adaptation. The first book, A Discovery of Witches, premiers across the pond soon. After watching it I was left with two questions: Why haven’t I read these books yet? And when will it be premiering here? It looks epic and awesome. Vampires, Withes, forbidden love, warring supernatural species, yes please! I may have to put these on my list asap.
